The Raven, 1935
Original Vintage Movie Poster Half Sheet (22×28″)
Starring Boris Karloff and Bela Lugosi

Stunning Super Rare Vintage Movie Poster Half Sheet for this Karloff/Lugosi Horror Classic “The Raven”. Originally released in 1935, this is the 1948 re-release poster. As you can see from the enlargeable image above, the vintage movie artwork is stunning! With chilling closeups of the two iconic horror legends Boris Karloff & Bela Lugosi.

There were two styles of this 1948 re-release half sheet. Style A had the same artwork, EXCEPT for the large Bela Lugosi image to the right holding gun. That was ONLY on This Style B half sheet we are offering. The Style B is more rare and of course more desirable by collectors because of the large image of Lugosi holding a gun on Boris Karloff. An extraordinary vintage horror cinema treasure you’re not likely to ever see again.

Very good condition. Has been professionally paper backed! Prior to minor restoration, someone had cut the eyes on both Karloff and Lugosi and had some small border tears. Those minor imperfections have been corrected with expert restoration and it now looks amazing. A true masterpiece in vintage movie art!

Very rare as only one other has ever appeared on the market. And only one orginal half sheet from the 1935 release has ever been found and sold at auction in 2007 for over $50,000!

The Raven (Realart, R-1948). Half Sheet (22″ X 28″).

Boris Karloff and Bela Lugosi combine their talents for the macabre in one of the better Universal horror films of the 30’s. Lugosi is Dr. Richard Vollin, a crazed scientist who has a penchant for duplicating Edgar Allen Poe’s methods of murder and torture. With the forced assistance of his henchman, Edmond Bateman (Karloff), he tries to eliminate the hindrances standing between him and his “Lenore,” Jean Thatcher (Irene Ware) — namely, her father and fiancee!
